Students receive a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) upon achievement of the following:

Fulfillment of OT program requirements, including satisfactory performance in Level II fieldwork.

Adherence to the academic, personal, and professional standards of the OT program.
Fulfillment of all financial obligations to the university.

Accreditation statement

The Entry-Level Occupational Therapy Doctorate program is a new program at ��ԭ�� and is seeking candidacy accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The ACOTE accreditation standards provide the basis for the occupational therapy degree program competencies.

World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT)

National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Following completion of all occupational therapy course requirements and fieldwork experiences, students can apply to take the NBCOT exam. NBCOT exam results for ��ԭ�� can be found in Program Success Rates. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT certification examination.

Technical standards & essential performance

Occupational therapy education and practice is mentally, physically, and psychologically demanding. To succeed in the OTD curriculum and fieldwork experiences, students must meet essential performance standards in:

Cognitive and analytical reasoning
Communication, including written, verbal, and interprofessional
Professional and ethical behavior
Physical capabilities required for therapeutic activities and safe clinical practice
Information technology literacy

These expectations reflect ACOTE's requirements for professional competencies and program integrity. Reasonable accommodations are available, but all students must meet core competencies necessary for safe OT practice. Students will acknowledge the technical standards and complete an online learning module in program orientation to assess computer sufficiency. Students who do not meet basic standards will receive additional training.

The Educational Leadership PhD program at D’Youville is focused on social justice for the transformational leader. As a student in D’Youville’s Educational Leadership PhD program, you'll gain real-world research and policy analysis experience to confront the key challenges faced by educational institutions. Program Requirements

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have successfully completed prerequisite coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and behavioral sciences. A minimum GPA of 3.2 and MCAT score of 501 are recommended for consideration. Additional requirements include three (3) letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and evidence of service or leadership. The admissions committee evaluates applicants holistically, considering academic preparation, motivation for osteopathic medicine, and alignment with DYU-COM’s mission.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

The DO program is completed over four academic years. Years 1–2 emphasize biomedical sciences, osteopathic principles, and early clinical exposure. Years 3–4 focus on core clinical clerkships and elective rotations. Successful completion of all required courses, OMM labs, and clinical rotations, as well as demonstration of professional competencies, are required for graduation.

CLINICAL TRAINING

During the third and fourth years of the program, students transition into clinical education through a series of required core clerkships. These core rotations provide a broad foundation in the major areas of medicine and are designed to ensure that every graduate develops the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Students complete clerkships in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, and emergency medicine. Each core rotation is four (4) weeks in length and takes place at affiliated hospitals, clinics, and community health centers across the Buffalo–Niagara region as well as partner sites throughout New York State. This structure allows students to gain valuable experience in diverse practice settings, from large healthcare systems to community-based primary care.

In addition to the required clerkships, students have the opportunity to pursue elective rotations in a wide range of specialties such as cardiology, radiology, orthopedics, anesthesiology, and more. These electives allow students to tailor their education to individual interests and career goals, while also deepening their understanding of subspecialty care.

Through this balanced mix of core and elective experiences, students graduate with a strong generalist foundation, the flexibility to explore specialty interests, and the preparation to excel in residency training.

EXAMINATION AND LICENSURE

Students must pass COMLEX Level 1 and COMLEX Level 2 in order to graduate. Graduates are then eligible to sit for COMLEX Level 3 during residency training.

COMLEX Level 1: Reported on a Pass/Fail scale. Students must earn a passing result for progression.
COMLEX Level 2: Reported on a numeric scale of 9–999. Students must achieve a minimum passing score of 400 for progression.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior. This includes maintaining academic integrity, demonstrating respect for patients and colleagues, and meeting the professionalism competencies outlined in the DYU-COM student handbook.

RESIDENCY PREPARATION

Comprehensive advising is provided throughout the program to prepare students for the residency match. Faculty mentors and career advisors assist with specialty selection, ERAS applications, mock interviews, and personal statement reviews.

ACCREDITATION STATUS

D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DYU-COM) is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) with Pre-Accreditation Status. This designation affirms that DYU-COM has demonstrated the structures, policies, and resources necessary to provide a quality osteopathic medical education and represents a key milestone on the path to full accreditation.

DOES YOUR SCHOOL ACCEPT “AP” CREDITS?

Yes, AP credits may be applied toward prerequisite coursework. Transcripts will be reviewed to determine which AP credits fulfill admissions requirements. If clarification is needed, a letter from the Registrar’s Office may be required to verify the applicable coursework.

WHAT GPA AND MCAT SCORES DO I NEED TO APPLY?

Applicants should have at least a 3.2 Science GPA and a 3.2 Overall GPA (on a 4.0 scale), and a minimum MCAT score of 501. Admissions is highly competitive, so higher GPAs and MCAT scores can improve your chances. AACOMAS completes all GPA calculations.

I STILL HAVE PREREQUISITE COURSEWORK IN PROGRESS. CAN MY APPLICATION BE REVIEWED?

Yes! Just be sure to list any courses you’re currently taking or planning to take on your AACOMAS application. All degree and prerequisite requirements must be finished by the time you start classes, or your acceptance could be rescinded.

WHAT IF MY SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE A PRE-HEALTH COMMITTEE?

A Pre-health committee letter is preferred, but not required. Applicants without a pre-health committee letter can submit three individual recommendations. It is strongly recommended to have a DO/MD letter.

CAN I SUBMIT MY LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION WITH MY AACOMAS APPLICATION?

Yes, we prefer letters to be submitted through AACOMAS. Letters of recommendation may also be submitted by email or mail, provided they are sent directly by the original author.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY GRADE CHANGES OR I FINISH A COURSE AFTER SUBMITTING MY AACOMAS APPLICATION?

Ask your college or university to send an updated official transcript to AACOMAS as soon as possible. AACOMAS will then update your application and forward it to the schools you selected. Be sure to check the AACOMAS website for important dates and instructions on Academic Updates.

CAN TEMPORARY RESIDENTS, DACA RECIPIENTS, OR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS APPLY?

At this time, we can only consider applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Pending residency and F-1 visa holders are not eligible.

HOW SOON WILL I HEAR BACK AFTER MY INTERVIEW?

DYU-COM utilizes the AACOMAS portal and a rolling admissions process, ensuring applicants receive timely decisions throughout the cycle.

How to Enroll

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

A prospective DYU-COM student must satisfy the following requirements to be considered for admission:

1. Citizenship

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident.

2. Academic Prerequisites

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Candidates from institutions with a formal articulation agreement for a combined degree may be considered for an exception.

4. MCAT Requirement

All applicants must submit an MCAT score of ≥ 501 (50th percentile).
A GPA of 3.2 or higher is strongly preferred given the rigor of medical education.
DYU-COM admissions decisions are holistic, evaluating GPA, MCAT, service to community, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and interviews.

5. Letters of Recommendation

Applicants must submit either:

A Pre-Health Committee Letter / Composite Letter (preferred), or
Three individual letters
- Two from faculty members (at least one in a science discipline)
- One from a supervisor of a long-term work, service, research, or clinical experience
  - If not available, an additional faculty letter may be substituted

Strongly recommended: a letter from a DO or MD (non-family member).

About the Program

The APA-accredited (on contingency) doctoral program in clinical psychology (PsyD) is a full-time, practitioner-oriented program that prepares you for a career as a licensed psychologist. RECORD RETENTION POLICY

Per New York State Education Department guidelines, all student records, including complaints and grievances, are maintained for a minimum of seven (7) years.

Physical records are retained in a locked filing cabinet in a secured area within the Clinical Psychology office suite in the ��ԭ�� Academic Center. Physical records longer than ten (10) years old will be shredded. Digital student academic records are retained permanently in a secured file on D’Youville’s OneDrive.

Retention of Training Records for internships and practicums are also kept electronically; this policy appears on page 26 of the Medaille University PsyD Training Manual.

What does the doctoral program in clinical psychology entail?

In the PsyD program, students work closely with faculty mentors and supervisors who support their professional and personal development. Through completing extensive clinical training, students gain experience and confidence as they complete a degree needed for licensure. Careers

Our program prepares you for general physical therapy practice where you’ll work to improve movement with patients whose functionality is impaired by injuries or disease.

A Physical Therapist's Role

Your role as a practicing physical therapist will be to help your patients regain strength and function, improve mobility, relieve their pain, and prevent or limit the scope or impact of physical disabilities on their lives and their health.

In clinical settings you’ll work with patients to assess their physical functions in the context of their medical history and social support. You’ll also test and measure their strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function in order to establish baselines for therapy.

Finally, as a physical therapist you’ll also help your patients after they leave your care by prescribing therapeutic exercise in order to improve the quality of their lives.

Specializations

The preparation you receive at D’Youville will qualify you to begin your professional career as a physical therapist in almost any healthcare setting. However, while many of our graduates enjoy fulfilling careers in general practice, many others choose to specialize in areas such as:

Orthopedics: focusing on the treatment and correction of functional impairments or deformities of the musculoskeletal system
Pediatrics: focusing on early intervention for babies and children who are functionally impaired from injuries or disease
Sports medicine: focusing on athletic conditioning, preventing and treating athletic injuries, and increasing human athletic performance
Geriatrics: focusing on healthcare issues of older adults
Industrial settings: focusing on maintaining health and treating diseases and accidental injuries affecting people in the workplace
Home care: focusing on using physical activity, exercise, and other treatments in order to assist with healing and relieving pain for those who are homebound with an injury or other physical disability

While many of our graduates go into clinical practice, others enter advanced academic programs in order to pursue careers in research and teaching in both private and public organizations. I had the pleasure of completing my first clinical rotation through the Happiness House in Geneva, NY. Through my rotation I worked alongside Dr. Kathryn Friday-Scibona and fellow therapists to treat a variety of pediatric patients in the Ontario and Seneca County area.

My time at Happiness House was filled with maintaining safety while children exercise, leading children through safe play, and assisting in new patient evaluations. While there I also worked on documentation, goal writing, and annual review assistance as well as progressing/regressing exercises based on how the child was feeling that day. I'm incredibly appreciative for not only my Cl but all therapists there who welcomed me with open arms and helped me grow as a future physical therapist. Overview

Pharmacists serve on the front lines of medicine as a critical component of a patients’ health—whether working in the lab, the community, the government, or in a clinical setting.

Today’s pharmacists act as part of an integrated healthcare team, educating patients on the use of both prescription and over-the-counter medications, advising physicians and other healthcare professionals on the best use of therapeutic medications, and offering advice about drug interactions and side effects .

There are several pathways, both in-person and online, into ��ԭ��'s three-year ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) programs for candidates who've earned a bachelor’s degree or are in the process of completing the prerequisite coursework.

The demand for Pharmacists in today’s job market is high with a variety of roles to choose from in the healthcare field. Patient Assessment I – PMD-613

In this practicum course, students will learn and practice the fundamentals of patient assessment, including physical examination, interviewing skills (such as history taking and symptom analysis) and interpretation of laboratory test results. Students will also become familiar with common drug names, categories, dosing, and therapeutic uses. Classroom time will be a combination of large and small group work. Skill-based activities, such as the practicing of components of a physical examination, will be practiced in student pairs with designated small teams.
Introductory Pharmacy Calculations – PMD-626

This course reviews basic math skills necessary for solving pharmaceutical calculation problems and accurate weighing and measurement of pharmaceutical ingredients. Specific calculations involved in individual dosage forms will be covered as well as the application to hospital and community pharmacy.
Pharmacotherapeutics I – PMD-703

This course is the first of a seven-part series in which students will learn to integrate the principles of pathophysiology, medicinal chemistry, drug disposition and pharmacology in order to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Specific topics covered will include the pharmacotherapy of acute and chronic kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte disorders, acid-base disorders, erectile dysfunction, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and urinary incontinence.

Students admitted into the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) program are required to complete a minimum of 59-61 prerequisite credit hours. Those applicants who are in the process of completing the prerequisite coursework are welcome to apply to our Pharm.D program.

*** Acceptable Human Biomedical Sciences include Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry. However, Anatomy and Physiology or Microbiology are recommended, and courses with labs are recommended.

All pre-requisite coursework must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.0/4.0) or better.
Science and Math courses should be current, completed no more than five years prior to enrollment.
All prerequisite Math and Science courses must be equivalent in scope and rigor to those required for Math, Chemistry and Biology majors at D’Youville.
All students are expected to be proficient in the implementation of computer operating systems, software applications for word processing, statistical analysis, database management, presentations, e-mail, and the use of online databases.

The interview process employs a series of multiple mini-interviews to assess non-cognitive skills important to rendering patient-centered care. Application Requirements

The ��ԭ�� School of Pharmacy participates in PharmCAS, the Pharmacy College Admission Service. To apply to the ��ԭ�� Professional Pharmacy Program (Pharm.D) complete the online PharmCAS application.
The PCAT is not required. However, if the PCAT test is taken and submitted to the D’Youville School of Pharmacy via PharmCAS the Admissions Committee will review and consider the test score with the entirety of that Candidate’s PharmCAS application.
You'll need to submit:
1. Official transcripts from ALL Colleges/Universities previously attended;
2. Two Letters of Reference, at least one Letter of Reference must be from an academic professor; the other letter may be from an employer, supervisor, or a faculty or health care advisor.
3. ��ԭ�� School of Pharmacy requires an English language test score for applicants whose native language is not English. If the applicant has attended an English-speaking institution (college/university) for two or more years as a full-time student (12 or more credit hours per term), they may be exempt from this requirement. However, based upon the Admissions Interview, for applicants whose native language is not English, the Admissions Committee may require one of the accepted English language tests to be completed prior to making a final decision on their application (TOEFL, IELTS, or DET are acceptable).

All foreign transcripts must be verified through PharmCAS, World Education Services (WES), or The Evaluation Company (TEC).

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Non-US citizens, who have attended a foreign (non-English speaking) institute for their college coursework, must take the TOEFL and TSE and have the results reported to PharmCAS

Evaluation Criteria

The Admission Committee reviews the following criteria for admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) program:
1. Applicant's academic performance
  1. Letters of recommendation
  2. Personal statement
  3. Job/work experience
  4. Interview performance/evaluation
2. It is preferred that applicants hold an Overall Prerequisite GPA of 2.7 or higher as well as a Math & Science Prerequisite GPA of 2.7 or higher. However, all applicants, regardless of GPA, are welcome to apply. The Admissions Committee will review each applicant holistically before making a final decision on an application.

Selected applicants will be invited for an interview. Performance on the personal interview will help the committee assess the applicant's potential to develop into a competent, compassionate pharmacist capable of rendering patient-centered care.

A Pharmacist's Role

The role of a Pharmacist has vastly changed over time. Today, Pharmacists do a lot more than just dispense medications. They serve on the front lines of medicine as a critical component in the overall health and well-being of a patient. In addition to traditional retail pharmacies, Pharmacists can now be found in labs, the community, in government, or in clinical settings

Pharmacists also participate in the research and development of new drugs, they consult on drug manufacturing and usage, participate in drug trials, and inform public health policy in relation to new and existing medications.

Industries & Settings

Pharmacists work in a variety of healthcare settings in a variety of roles including:

Community Pharmacists - work in retail settings dispensing medications, advising patients on drug effects and interactions, and provide primary health care services such as flu and shingles vaccinations.
Clinical Pharmacists - work in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. Clinical pharmacists work as part of an integrated healthcare team in the hospital. They provide advice on dosage and timing of medications, efficacy of specific pharmaceuticals and their alternatives, and the role of medications in the treatment of a variety of health conditions and diseases.
Consultant Pharmacists - provide advice on medications to institutions such as hospitals or health insurance companies. Some Consultant Pharmacists also provide direct consultation to patients through their own private practices.
Pharmaceutical Industry Pharmacists work in the pharmaceutical industry in areas including marketing, sales and/or research

Pharmacists are in demand and well compensated. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the median wage for Pharmacists was $136,030 in May 2023.
